If you are worried, then rest assured that one of the focal points of the Sangeet Retreat is to create a loving, all-inclusive atmosphere, which is akin to a ‘big happy family’. Everyone is cared for with no bias and there is always someone to discuss and chat with about any issues or uncertainties. You will be nurtured and cared for very well, and it is a great experience to learn, make new friends and have fun. The musical atmosphere and environment created is impossible to find anywhere else.
The Sangeet Retreat is a week of being with our instruments and other musicians and immersing ourselves in Indian Classical Music. We learn how to discipline ourselves to do intense practice for extended periods of time. This means that even after this week, we can continue to be motivated to improve and push ourselves in practice beyond our perceived capability.
It is for talented musicians who are ready and want to be pushed more, and who want an experience of proper practice and musicianship, guided by the best UK based Indian classical artists.
For the money, you get a week of incredible learning. There are a lot of fun activities to participate in, inside and out of the venue. There is also time to socialise and make friends with other musicians, learning new things from your peers as well as your mentors.
If you are worried about coming and think you won’t fit in, or won’t be accepted or liked, then don’t be. Everyone there is like a big, happy family. Everybody is looked after and there is always someone to talk to about things you may be unsure of. You will be nurtured and cared for very well, and be welcomed by all the other musicians there. It is a great experience to learn, make new friends and have fun. The musical atmosphere and environment created is impossible to find anywhere else.
